Edeta Arts has commissioned American composer and percussionist, Michael Udow, to compose a work that will be performed on Saturday, July 6, 2024. This unique performance will take place throughout the city highlighting the history, monuments, culture, and the importance of music in the daily life of the people of Llíria. The performance will feature the music & dance societies of Llíria, the Valencia community, and invited international artists & ensembles.
Michael Udow graduated from the University of Illinois in 1978 with a Master of Music degree and Doctor of Musical Arts degree in percussion performance. After graduating Michael joined the New Orleans Philharmonic, and then went to Poland to do research on a Fullbright Scholarship. Upon his return to the United States, he toured with the historic ground-breaking Blackearth Percussion Group.
Having retired after a distinguished career at The Santa Fe Opera (Principal Percussion 1968 — 2009) and the University of Michigan (1982 — 2011 Emeritus Professor), and Composer-in-Residence with the Colorado Chamber Orchestra. (2014-2015), Michael devotes his full-time energies towards composing.
In addition to playing, teaching, and building unique percussion instruments, Michael has composed over 150 works including: operas, film scores, orchestral and wind ensemble works as well as numerous chamber music and solo compositions.
Michael continues to provide short term composition and percussion residencies at conservatories and universities around the world including residencies in China, Japan, and Korea. In 2022, Michael was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame.

The accommodation is based on twin occupancy. Single supplement is available upon request. A limited number of family rooms are also available upon request.
A combination of metro and motor coach transportation is included.
The festival will provide a wide range of percussion instruments. Specific instrument lists will be decided in consultation with the participants.
